It will translate designs to FBX file that can be viewed using the free application 'Autodesk® FBX® Review' and other such platforms which support FBX, like Unity, Autodesk® Maya®, Autodesk® 3ds Max®, etc. FBX is also part of Autodesk Gameware, a series of video gamemiddleware.Ĭreate an FBX file of your design in a moment and share with anyone in one go. It is used to provide interoperability between digital content creation applications. The short of it is, FBX Review is available at the Microsoft store (at least as of ), and it will open and let you see (if you know how) 3DS files.FBX is a proprietary file format (.fbx) developed by Kaydara and owned by Autodesk® since 2006. I also couldn't select individual items in the module to change color or make translucent. If you know the FBX Review commands, then you probably won't have the same problems I did.

Even though my 3DS files were created in 3D Studio Max (2020, I think), when I opened them, they appeared to be empty, but something about their distance from the FBX REview origin meant that they were a long, long way off in the distance, and wilh a little playing around, I was able to get them to come into view. It will open 3DS files (which is what I needed), and let you see them. It seems to work fine (or rather, as advertised) as a Win10 app. I was able to get the Microsoft app from their App Store - and I didn't have the same need as the original poster (however, I do prefer exe's over apps - my internet is not ubiquous).Īfter more generic Web searching, I found it on the Microsoft Store, and (after logging into my Microsoft Acct), it installed a 12.7Mb program as a Windows 10 App (on my Win10 PC). Their "App Store" does appear under construction.

However, I don't doubt its still available for download at AutoDesk.

I"m sorry, but when I got to that page (in multiple browsers), it is a list of links down the left side - there is nothing at the top right.
